First Ride: Giro Coalition Spherical
Overall Review
The light weight full face helmet segment has grown considerably over the past five years or so, driven by the increasing popularity of the enduro discipline and the evolution of mountain bikes in general. More capable bikes increase exposure to speed and gnarly terrain, leading many riders to seek full face protection even on pedal powered rides. E-bikes have also contributed to the proliferation of full face helmets on more types of trails. Giro has been a bit late to address the true light

Fast Suspension Ride E Rear Shock
Overall Review
Among the rolling hills surrounding the tiny town of Plestan in Brittany, France, you’ll find a small manufacturer of mountain bike suspension called Fast Suspension. Born out of one man’s passion for making things work better, Fast started out in motorsports but has been focusing on mountain bike suspension since 2015 when they released their very first rear shock, called the Holy Grail. Jumping ahead to 2023, Fast dropped their latest product, a simplified yet sophisticated coil shock called

Extreme Racing Shox or EXT is an Italian suspension supplier with roots in motorsports, where the brand found success working with legendary racers like Sebastien Loeb who dominated the World Rally Championship for years aboard his Citroens. In 2014, EXT decided to try their hand at making products for mountain bikes as well, and brought over many of the technologies and the expertise they have been developing over the years. When the company launched their first suspension fork in 2021, we were

The Good
Great Climber
Great on the downhill
Lightweight
Front mounting spot in handlebars for computer or Go Pro mount
Rear shock integrated in frame keeps it clean and sleek looking
1 piece handlebars and stem
Twinloc on handlebars to easily lock-out the suspension
The Bad
None that I have found so far.

I have owned a 2019 Genius 900 Tuned, 2020 Genius 900 Ultimate and now a 2023 Genius 900 Ultimate. It is a full HMX carbon bike including the seat-stay, chain-stay, wheels, and handlebars. This is by far the best of the 3 bikes. With the new geometry this bike climbs a ton better and is even better on the downhill. The new more vertical seat-post tube positions you over the bottom bracket to give you better climbing and helps you keep your chin over the handlebars when descending. With the rear

Overall Review
German brake specialist Trickstuff is most known for their very high-end and singularly expensive brakes, but it just so happens that they also make rotors and aftermarket brake pads that don’t come with any kind of sticker shock. Curious to see what they could offer, we’ve been testing the “Ultra Light” rotors and “Power” pads for about 6 months now – keep reading to find out how we’ve been getting on. A crank is a crank is a crank…these days that can be both true and not true. Yes, you can find a perfectly functional crank that is not too heavy and doesn’t cost too much. However, as bland as this particular component may seem, it’s an area where you can also find exotic options to spice up your ride and make it your own. Anything from carbon to titanium goes, with all kinds of designs and colors on offer. North Shore Billet, more commonly known as NSB, threw their hat in the ring earlier this

2019 Giant Trance E+ 2 Pro E-Bike
Quintessential eMTB
The Good
I got one of these in 2020, a left over ‘19 and it’s dabomb. The Yamaha sync drive is bulletproof, and the Fox suspension reigns supreme. Love this bike.
The Bad
It has 27.5’s, that’s okay.
It’s not that light, but it’s fine.
The seat post had to be rebuilt.
Needs a Rocket saddle.
Overall Review
A more or less state of the art eMTB for about four grand you can’t miss. Like the energizer bunny, it just goes and goes and goes.

While wireless components are steadily growing in popularity (and performance), there is still a lack of relatively affordable options in the wireless dropper space. TranzX is looking to remedy that as the first company to offer a $500 wireless dropper post, eloquently named the EDP01. We’ve had one on test for five months now, and we’re here to report on how we’ve been getting along. Keep reading to find out! This Bike Rips
The Good
Absolute blast to ride, tough, adjustable dropouts, good geo, loads of standover, lots of tyre clearance
The Bad
Some rubber grommets around the internal cable routing ports would've been nice.
Sliding dropouts came loose on a ride once

I bought this as a frame and have built it up with Shimano slx 170mm cranks, deore drivetrain & brakes, wtb i29 wheels and a Z2 140mm fork, and 2.6 specialized butcher/purgatory tyres, superstar pedals & brandx dropper, Its just under 14kg. Paint job is gorgeous too. This is the 2021/22 bike , but frame is same for 2023/24 bike Frame is well thought out, massive tyre clearance even on 2.6s thanks to nicely sculpted stays. Lots of standover clearance too. Its not as slack as the ESD, but Z2s ride
