Figured why not put all the rad Vintage mountain bike movies from VHS and DVD into a forum post. This random YouTube recommendation kicked it off. I'd never seen or heard of it, but it's a classic piece of Canadian freeride goodness.

From 2002, Changing of the Guards. (bikes. were. so. small! 16-min mark = way before youtube was a thing with "extreme MTB on a 10-speed")

The year is 1995, Eddie Roman drops "Hammertime"

This video shaped my life in so many ways. I bought my first Barracuda because of Eric Carter.

I ran into Hans Rey in Queenstown in 2019, I told him his part in Hammertime is what got me into riding bikes, he couldn't beleive someone still remembered that part lol.

Hammertime and Chainsmoke are etched into my brain

Another classic, still relevant today. One of the best opening scenes in any video I've seen lol

My first mountain bike movie, on VHS of course, purchased at Cove Bike Shop on a family roadtrip through BC in 2001 or 2002, coming back to the US after riding Whistler for the first time. Our rental Kona Stinky's at Whistler had Avid Arch Rival v-brakes, SDG Big Boy saddles, and QR Marzocchi Junior T's. Obviously I was hooked for life after that trip and burned out this VHS watching it over and over again. Great scenes from Cowan/Pritzel, Myles Rockwell, Gracia/Chausson, Lenosky, The Alien, and all the Canadians. I also thought Cedric's last name was "Garcia" for years.

Not as old as some of these, but Earthed 3 still gets me stoked to ride.
I spend a fair amount of time riding rollers in the winter and probably watch it 3 or 4 times per winter.

Another one. 2001 doesn't seem that long ago, and yet it does.

oh damn, that brings back memories! was part of the OG lifecycles crew bitd (tyler was our fearless guinea pig); did some work on colin's trail on sumas (@ 15:00) - a fine mix of burly & janky. pretty neat era, in retrospect (absolutely no nostalgic compulsion to ride the sketchy structures of yore, tho).
